Josephine Sacabo Joséphine Sacabo lives and works mostly in New Orleans, where she has been strongly influenced by the unique ambience of the city. She is a native of Laredo, Texas, and was educated at Bard College, New York. Previous to coming to New Orleans, she lived and worked extensively in France and England. Her earlier work was in the photo-journalistic tradition, influenced by Robert Frank, Josef Koudelka, and Henri Cartier-Bresson. She now works in a very subjective, introspective style. She uses poetry as the genesis of her work and lists poets as her most important influences, among them Rilke, Baudelaire, Pedro Salinas, Vincente Huiobro, and Juan Rulfo.

Charles Crain Charles Crain Photography:
Charles bought his first Nikon SLR nearly 40 years ago. His first studies included street photography - a genre the New York Times called, “…shots of everyday people living out their private lives in public.” In his portraiture, he has an ability to capture the life experiences of people reflected in their faces and gestures. A native of South Louisiana, he has been influenced by its unique French culture and the great number of talented painters, sculptors, and photographers from this region. As a practicing architect, one facet of his photography tends to capture the special essence of the built environment. Over time, his work continued in 35mm B&W and slide formats; of late, it has evolved to digital. The subjects of his photography range from England to Central America, the Gulf Coast, South Florida, and the Western U.S. http://www.charlescrainphotography.com
Ted Preuss Art and photography have always played a large part in my life. I believe there is something inherently beautiful about the human body. Through my lens I seek to capture the elegance and natural beauty of the female spirit, yet secretly wishing to leave traces of their identity forever. My images are studies in light and form, which blend formal and sensual qualities, radiating the individuality of my subjects through their emotion-laced gestures.
The process of making prints is as important to me as the practice of creating photographs. I chose platinum-palladium as a medium for its distinct vintage quality and archival properties. These images reveal shadows and dark values beautifully. http://www.tedpreuss.com
Jane Fulton Alt My photographic images reflect an exploration of the ineffable mystery of the life force, searching for that which is true and eternal. This quest is fueled by a persistent longing to return home.

Roman Alokhin My camera is like a plug. It serves as a connection to the world from which I draw energy. Photography’s strength is capturing life’s sporadic moments anywhere and anytime, and this is how I prefer to work. I move close to people and subjects in an attempt to present the viewer with experiences that I had while triggering the shutter. http://alokhin.com/
Thom Bennett “Thom Bennett explores the relationships between legend and modern interpretation in his series The Mythology of Mardi Gras. His exploration of this seasonal celebration looks past the surface of the occasion to connect additional meanings between masks, costumes, and role playing. Bennett successfully associates the playful with the human need to recall, reinterpret, and reenact historic and cultural mythologies.” - Barbara Satterfield, The Baum Gallery – “Focal Points: Contemporary Southern Photography” http://thombennettphotographs.com/
Tim Best I am investigating the difference between drama and reality. I photograph the moments between the moments, the expressions between the expressions, and the images between the images. I want to observe the unobserved and see how it relates to the reality people choose to see.

Seth Boonchai Within the corners are the remains and glimpses of our histories and legacies. These histories, ghosts, and trace evidences of people and their activities fascinate me. To me they are sightings; glimpses of something common yet unique.
I try to reveal the beauty in the spaces by creating images that speak to the former glory of the places photographed. I want the viewer to meditate on the images and on the transience of man and the beauty that can be found between blinks.

Lee Celano Lee Celano has been shooting major news events and documenting social change for two decades. Over the past three years , he has documented New Orleans and Gulf Coast residents whose lives have been transformed by devastating hurricanes. His photos have put a human face on the frustratingly slow re-population and rebuilding process. Lee also continues to work on a personal project on modern life in Cajun communities as their distinct culture and lifestyle fade away. His approach is naturalistic, capturing moments that illustrate the drama, tragedy and beauty of people’s everyday struggles. http://www.leecelano.com/

Shawn P. Escoffery Shawn Escoffery is a Harlem New York / New Orleans based photographer who uses his passion for life and the built environment to uncover beauty in images of every day life often overlooked. From a child gently kissing a father’s cheek showing affection on a crowded subway train, to the worn expressionless face of one of New York’s homeless or simple architecture, Escoffery seeks to capture the unseen and open new worlds to the viewers of his work. With a Masters degree in City Planning from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Escoffery has spent the last ten years working in urban and distressed areas across the country trying to make improvements to the physical landscape and helping the people who live in these areas move towards self-sufficiency. His commitment to this sector has manifested in some of his recent photo essays as he explores combining social advocacy with photography. “Lives Forgotten” is a ongoing series on homelessness where he Escoffery volunteers with The New Life Project, a New York based homeless advocacy organization, shooting images of the homeless for fundraisers and the agency’s publication. His “Lost Innocence” series explores the world of children born into poverty with images of children playing in the streets unaware of the despair and decay of their surroundings. Escoffery’s most recent series “One Year Later: New Orleans” documents the devastation left by one of the countries greatest natural disasters. Worn streetscapes dotted with empty foundations, mountains of debris, dilapidated houses and dreams washed away in a storm, Escoffery’s images of New Orleans show the realness of a true tragedy.
A well traveled individual, Escoffery hopes to share some of the sights, smells and feelings he has encountered throughout his many trips domestically and internationally. He aims to allow the viewer to step into the picture and become part of that moment – to feel the mood expressed in a subjects eyes or the sadness painted by light and shadows. Peru, Brazil, Jamaica, Mexico, Japan, Australia, France, and China are a few of the international backdrops in many of Escoffery’s work. He has spent extensive time in Japan and his fascination with the country and Asia in general has produced a continuously growing body of work entitled, “Unmette shinjiur?” where he captures all aspects of life in Japan from populous cities like Tokyo to rural rice filed villages in southern Kyushu. Escoffery shoots in a documentary style with each shoot telling a unique story.
Shawn Escoffery holds bachelor degrees in English Literature and Political Science from Rutgers University and a Masters Degree in City Planning from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He also holds a certificate in international development and communications from the Heinz School of Public Policy at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA and is currently a Rockefeller Urban Redevelopment Fellow at the University of Pennsylvania. He continues to work with community groups and volunteers at a number of community based organizations aimed at improving the lives of inner-city residents.
His work has been exhibited in several galleries in New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, California and Louisiana. Shawn shoots with passion and intensity – this energy is brought to all of his projects as he hopes to produce intriguing images that provoke lasting discussions.

Along her journey Michelle stopped often to experience and record the wonders she found in everyday places.
"The work that I produce comes from the heart. When I look around, I don't see lines and shapes. I see the beauty of the spirit of the universe that we are each a part. I see the web of all things in existence intertwined. Each element has its own quality. In my images I try to capture that spirit, that elusive essence that all too often we are in too much of a hurry to notice. If I can help one person to stop and take notice, we all will benefit." http://www.michellealinepujolsphotography.com

Ellen Susan I am a photographer who lives in Savannah, Georgia. At the age of nine or twelve (I can't remember which, but it was definitely one or the other) I was given my first camera as a Christmas, or birthday or Hannukah gift. Just like everyone else. I used this Brownie or Polaroid Big Shot or other hilariously named, quaintly low-tech kiddie camera for a while to take unsurprising pictures of my friends, family and pets. After a short time, I put it in a drawer with all my other junk and forgot about it. None of which has anything to do with the fact that I make pictures today.
I also "work" in Savannah - this shouldn't come as a shock, given the fact that I live there. But I aspire to be a dual-city artist "dividing my time" between Savannah and either Detroit - the city of my birth - or Alligator, Mississippi, because I figure the real estate there is probably pretty cheap.
I have two art degrees, but I don't hold them, ever.
I am married to Rob Walker, columnist for the New York Times Magazine, author of two fine books (three if you count comic books), co-creator of the sublimely pleasurable Significant Objects, and "the Michael Bierut of Objectified." Take his Metapoll.

Peter Tilgner The photographs I take are not planned. I make pictures by merging the unplanned. Many of my pictures display my sense of humor. However, some show a darker side to my picture making. Common to all my work is an interest in turning photographs into complex, merged image compositions where the viewer’s imagination can become an active collaborator in the scene.
Creating pictures from disparate parts (each picture is made up of two or more different images), is what my work is about. Combining unplanned images of every day people and places into content driven, meaningful pictures is the challenge.
